EPA NanoSafety Unit

An important area of research in the CBNI is the potential impact of nanoparticles on the environment.  To this end,    we have established an Environmental Protection Agency funded unit of activity in the arena of nanosafety which encompasses several projects, postdoctoral fellowships and PhD studentships, as well as specific pieces of equipment such as the High Content Analysis platform.

Specific links to each of the projects are given below.

High Content Analysis Platform

Visualisation and Quantification of the interaction of fluorescent nanoparticles with ecotoxicologically relevant species

Establishment and validation of a human blood-brain barrier model for screening and risk assessment of nanoparticle access to the brain

Role of engineered nanoparticles in protein fibrillation diseases

Post-genomic approaches to asses the nanotoxicity risk of nanoparticles
